Shade-tolerant St. Augustine varieties — like Palmetto or Seville — are the best option under heavy oak canopy. They won't perform like grass in full sun, but they establish and hold in moderate to heavy shade better than any other warm-season grass. We'll be honest with you if a section of your yard is too shaded for any grass to survive long-term.

Proper grading before installation is what prevents both problems. We slope the soil so water moves away from the sod rather than pooling on it, and we install the rolls tight so they don't shift in a heavy downpour. The first two weeks are the most vulnerable — we time installations to avoid predicted heavy rain when possible.

Absolutely. Many New Orleans lots are narrow, irregular, or broken up by raised beds, pathways, and hardscape. We cut sod to fit those shapes cleanly. Small installs are common in the city and we price them fairly.

Most residential installations are completed in a single day. Larger properties or those requiring significant soil prep may take two days. We'll give you a realistic timeframe during the estimate so you can plan accordingly.

Not much — we handle the prep work. It helps to have any irrigation heads or underground utilities marked if you know their locations, and to clear any furniture or portable items from the area.
